Would you like to show your visual art, music, performance, prints, written work or other creative research in hafnar.space fall 2025?

The application deadline is Friday August 15th.

Applicants will be notified by August 29th.

  • hafnar.space is accessed through the cafeteria of hafnar.haus, a coworking space and creative community on the 2nd-4th floor on Tryggvagata 17. There is no need to be a member of hafnar.haus to apply to exhibit at hafnar.space but a certain number of exhibition opportunities will be reserved for members.

  • Hafnar.space is a curated exhibition space for artists that showcases forward-looking, critical, experimental art.

We are particularly interested in art that engages with and about ecology, philosophy, science, technology, posthumanism, and ethics. We believe in art and design as a tool for social critique and shaping a vision for the future in an ever-changing world.

Formal art education is not a prerequisite for applying, but some experience of exhibition making is a plus.

Exhibition proposals may fall outside this scope.

    Exhibition periods

Shows are generally four to five days, from Thursday to Monday.

    • Exhibition periods are short to limit the burden on the curators, as it is an artist-run space and everyone works on a volunteer basis. Our experience is that most people attend the opening or the last day of the exhibition, so our focus will be on short but highly visible exhibitions.

    Exhibition fee

    • Hafnar.space charges an exhibition fee of ISK 6,000 and takes a 15% sales commission from works (if works are for sale) to cover the basic costs of operation (spackle, paint, printing, website)

    • Applications will be treated with confidentiality.

    • It is not necessary to be a member of Hafnar.haus to apply to exhibit in Hafnar.space, but a certain number of exhibition opportunities will be reserved for members.

    • The space is suitable for art and design works in most media, but we are open to works / ideas outside the field of art and design (music, films, video games, digital works, written works, whatever form your art takes)

    • You can apply as an individual or a group.

    • In some cases, curators will select artists for joint exhibitions.

    • Limited space is available and it is not certain that everyone who applies will make it to this round of shows.

  • Exhibition proposals can be submitted using the form below or as a PDF via email to contact@hafnar.space.

    • Name of artist(s)
