Iceland is a place well-known and well-loved by all photographers for its unique and beautiful landscapes. However, the attention Iceland receives results in turning what should be beautiful scenery into what can unfortunately be perceived as cliché in many contexts. Another Iceland is Jonathan Swerdlow’s attempt at showcasing the rich and vibrant place he calls home as he sees it: beyond our world. There is nowhere in the world like Iceland, and Another Iceland aims to work through the cliché in the realm of art.
Iceland is also much more than the land: it is the plants, the trees, the clouds, the views from the windows, and the simple feeling of being at home as the wind blows or walking on ice-covered streets. Thus, this exhibit includes as many of these "views" as can be shared – ranging from mountains and landscapes to the view from the artist's apartment window to the plants that blanket the ground. However, it is left to the viewer to determine what's what.

Jonathan Swerdlow is an alternative photographer whose work seeks to turn the everyday and the mundane into something otherworldly and unrecognizable. By manipulating viewpoints and color, his work focuses on expressing emotions rather than the contents of the images themselves. Apart from photography, Jonathan Swerdlow is an author, poet, and musician wherein his goal of emotional expression is the same.
